Cooling Time & Temperature

The cooling performance depends on the size of your Insulin Cooling Case: the Large model provides slightly longer refrigeration than the Medium.

Large Insulin Cooling Case:

At 30°C → keeps your insulin & medication refrigerated (2–8°C) for 33 hours, and cool (<26°C) for 52 hours.

At 35°C → keeps your insulin & medication refrigerated for 30 hours, and cool for 48 hours.

At 40°C → keeps your insulin & medication refrigerated for 28 hours, and cool for 46 hours.

Medium Insulin Cooling Case:

At 30°C → keeps your insulin & medication refrigerated for 30 hours, and cool for 48 hours.

At 35°C → keeps your insulin & medication refrigerated for 28 hours, and cool for 46 hours.

At 40°C → keeps your insulin & medication refrigerated for 26 hours, and cool for 44 hours.

Pro Tip: Extend the Cooling Duration

For longer journeys or continuous use, keep additional Biogel freeze packs ready in the freezer so you can swap them out whenever needed and extend the cooling time of your Insulin Cooling Case.

How to Use Your Cooler

How to Use Your Nomad PRO Insulin Case

Like the original Nomad, the Nomad PRO is really straightforward to use. Just follow these steps:

  1. Prepare the Biogel Cooling Pack: Shake the Biogel cooling pack four or five times to ensure the gel is evenly distributed.
  2. Freeze the Cooling Pack: Place the Biogel cooling pack in the freezer for 6–8 hours. Don’t worry if it stays frozen for longer—it’s completely fine!
  3. Activate the Cooling Pack: Submerge the frozen Biogel cooling pack in lukewarm tap water for 2–3 minutes. This removes the frost layer and prevents the risk of freezing your medicine. No lukewarm water available? Simply leave it at room temperature for 15–20 minutes instead. The warm water method is more efficient, especially in different seasonal conditions.
  4. Dry and Load your Medication: Towel-dry the Biogel cooling pack and place it into the insulated cooling case along with your insulin or medication.
  5. Secure the Lid: Firmly close the lid. Job done!
  6. Monitor the Temperature: Check the touch-screen temperature display any time you need to confirm your medications are stored within the safe range (shown in both °C and °F).

Ideal for Insulin, Ozempic, Mounjaro & Diabetes Injections

The Nomad PRO is the perfect travel cooling case for people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who need to keep their injections cool and safe on the go.

Whether you use insulin or type 2 diabetes injections such as Ozempic, Mounjaro, Trulicity, or others, this compact cooler keeps them refrigerated for days — even on long journeys.

Designed for everyday reliability and medical-grade performance, the Nomad PRO takes the stress out of travelling with diabetes — from short trips and flights to daily commutes.

The Perfect Travel Cooler for GLP-1 Meds

Whether you use Wegovy, Zepbound, Semaglutide, or Tirzepatide, the Nomad Pro Cooling Case is perfectly designed for today’s new generation of GLP-1 medications.

It’s engineered to keep your injections consistently refrigerated — providing reliable cooling, protecting them from heat, and preventing accidental freezing.

For anyone travelling with GLP-1 treatments, the Nomad Pro offers more than practicality — it ensures your medication stays effective, stable, and ready to use, wherever life takes you.

Compatible with 30+ Injections

Beyond insulin and GLP-1 injections, the Nomad PRO is designed to safely store and transport over 30 types of refrigerated medicines.

From growth hormones (HGH, Genotropin, Norditropin) and rheumatoid arthritis treatments (Humira, Enbrel) to IVF and fertility injections, migraine medications (Aimovig, Emgality, Ajovy), and asthma injectables, our cooling case provides consistent, medical-grade cooling for a wide range of biologics and injectables.

➡️ To check how many pens, vials, or syringes your specific medication will fit, see the product images or the “Size & Fit” section above.

Only For Medications That Need Full Refrigeration

The Nomad PRO is built with high-performance cooling technology that maintains a steady fridge-like temperature between 2°C and 8°C. It’s perfectly suited for unopened insulin and other medicines that must stay refrigerated while travelling.

However, some treatments don’t need such low temperatures once they’re in use. If your medication only requires heat protection rather than full cooling — for instance, daily insulin pens or other room-temperature injections — you might prefer one of our insulated travel options, such as the Chiller Cooling Pouches or the Rambler Insulin Pen Case.

Both keep your medication comfortably cool without the extra refrigeration power of the Nomad PRO!

Bold New Colours & Durable Finish

The Nomad PRO now comes in a range of vibrant, eye-catching colours, paired with a new scratch-resistant coating for extra durability.

While no surface is ever completely scratch-proof, this upgraded finish — together with the protective insulated carry bag — keeps your travel cooling case looking smart and polished, journey after journey.

Frequently asked questions

How Long Does The Nomad Pro Cooling Case Keep Insulin Refrigerated?

The Medium Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case keeps insulin at fridge temperature (2–8°C) for up to 30 hours in 30°C ambient heat, and up to 26 hours in 40°C heat.

The Big Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case offers slightly longer performance — up to 32 hours in 30°C ambient heat, and up to 28 hours in 40°C heat.

Both sizes will also keep medications below 26°C for up to 46–52 hours, so you can rely on them for trips away of a few days or more.

Is The Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case Up To The Job In Hot Weather or Heat Waves?

Absolutely — the Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case is built to handle whatever the weather throws at it. Even at a sweltering 40°C, the Big Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case will keep your insulin at a safe fridge temperature for up to 28 hours.

That said, as with any cooling case, it's best to avoid leaving it in a parked car or in direct sunlight to get the most out of it.

How Many Insulin Pens Fit In The Nomad Pro Cooling Case?

It depends on the size and your insulin pen brand.

The Medium Nomad Pro holds up to 3 pens of standard-format insulin brands available in the UK (Lantus, NovoRapid, Toujeo, Admelog, Novomix) and up to 2 pens of wider formats (Tresiba, Humalog, Levemir, Fiasp, Basaglar).

The Big Nomad Pro holds up to 7 insulin pens of most standard formats and up to 6 pens of the wider ones.

🔍 Check the full compatibility list on the product images for your specific insulin pen brand. If you're not sure, feel free to contact our support team for personalised advice!

Can I Use The Nomad Pro Cooling Case For GLP-1 Injections Like Ozempic, Wegovy, And Mounjaro?

Yes, absolutely! Like all our medical cooling cases and mini fridges, the Nomad Pro is a brilliant choice for keeping GLP-1 weight-loss and diabetes injections available in the UK — including Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro, Saxenda, Trulicity, and Victoza — at a safe temperature while you're on the go.

🔍 Always check the specific fit using the size guide on the product image, as pen dimensions can vary by brand and country. If you're not sure, feel free to contact our support team for personalised advice.

My Medication Is Not On The List. Can I Still Use The Nomad PRO Cooling Case?

Yes, absolutely! The Nomad Pro is a great cooling case for any medication that needs to stay refrigerated during transport, including Enbrel, Actemra, Humira, Dupixent, and many others.

🔍 Storage capacity varies by pen or syringe format — check the full compatibility list on the product image or feel free to contact our support team for personalised guidance!

What Is The Difference Between The Medium And Big Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case?

The key difference between these two sizes is storage capacity and refrigeration duration.

The Medium Nomad Pro (24 cm tall, 6.5 cm diameter) is more compact and perfectly suited for daily carry with 1–3 injection pens.

The Big Nomad Pro (26.5 cm tall, 8.5 cm diameter) offers significantly more internal space — ideal for longer trips or if you're carrying quite a few injections — and keeps things cool for marginally longer too.

What Is The Difference Between The Nomad Pro And The Standard Nomad Insulin Cooling Case?

The Nomad PRO is the upgraded version of our Nomad Insulin Cooling Case, with three key improvements:

  • a built-in digital touch-screen temperature display showing the internal temperature in real time;
  • a scratch-resistant finish in bold new colours;
  • and a premium insulated carry bag included in the box for added protection and convenience.

The core cooling technology, Biogel system, airport security compliance, and medication compatibility are identical across both models.

How Does The Temperature Display Work?

The Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case features an integrated digital touch screen on the lid that shows the real-time internal temperature — without needing to open it.

On the Medium Nomad Pro, it runs on long-lasting button-cell batteries with an estimated lifespan of up to 2 years (roughly 30,000 display activations). When the battery eventually runs low, you can replace it yourself with a sharp tool by rotating the glass display where indicated.

On the Big Nomad Pro, the lid is rechargeable via USB (cable and plug included).

Do I Need To Charge Or Plug In The Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case?

Not at all! The Nomad Pro Cooling Case keeps your insulin and medication cool through entirely passive cooling — no electricity, no USB connection, and no charging required whatsoever.

It does its job solely through the included Biogel Cooling Pack. The temperature display lid runs on a replaceable button-cell battery rather than a rechargeable one, so there's genuinely nothing to plug in.

That makes this cooling case completely self-sufficient — perfect for flights, travelling off the beaten track, outdoor activities, or anywhere you can't rely on a power source.

What Is The Insulated Carry Bag For, And Do I Need To Use It?

The carry bag is a lovely bonus accessory included with the Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case.

It's not required for the cooling system to work — but it is insulated, so if you do choose to use it, it adds an extra layer of thermal protection on top of the Nomad Pro's already excellent standalone performance.

Beyond that, it's been designed with everyday convenience in mind:

  • it keeps your cooling case protected from scratches and wear;
  • it comes with an adjustable shoulder strap for comfortable carrying;
  • and it features handy storage pockets to keep your diabetic accessories, spare needles, and other medical essentials nice and organised.
Is The Nomad Pro Approved For Air Travel? Can I Pack It In My Hand Luggage?

Absolutely! Like all 4AllFamily's medical cooling cases, the Nomad Pro is fully approved for airport security and can be carried through in your hand luggage — whether you're flying from a UK airport, within the EU, or on international routes.

A handy bonus of the Nomad Pro on flights is the temperature display — you can quickly check that your medications have stayed cold throughout boarding and in-flight, without ever having to open the case.

💡Do make sure to carry your medication alongside your cooling case to show it's being used for medical purposes.

Can I Use The Nomad Pro to Carry Open, In-Use Insulin At Room Temperature?

It depends on your insulin or medication's specific storage instructions, and whether or not it can be returned to the fridge after being kept at room temperature.

The Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case is engineered to maintain refrigerated temperatures (2–8°C), which may be too cold for some types and brands of insulin or medication that should be kept at room temperature but not fully refrigerated once opened.

💡If what you need is heat protection rather than full refrigeration, we'd recommend having a look at the Rambler single-pen cooler, the Rambler PRO, or the Chillers cool pouches instead.

What Do I Get With The Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case?

Every Nomad Pro Insulin Cooling Case comes with everything you need, straight out of the box:

  • the insulated medical cooling case itself;
  • the smart temperature display lid with pre-installed batteries;
  • one reusable Biogel Cooling Pack (additional Cooling Packs available here);
  • and a premium insulated carry bag with a thermal inner lining for extra insulation.

Safe, refrigerated medication transport — ready to go from the moment it arrives.
